Independent Boarding Schools in the Northern Territory
There are five Independent Schools in the Northern Territory that provide boarding:
- Marrara Christian College, Darwin
- St Philip's College, Alice Springs
- Haileybury Rendall School, Darwin
- Tiwi College, Pickertaramoor, Melville Island
- Yirara College of the Finke River Mission, Alice Springs
Marrara Christian College, Darwin
Marrara Christian College provides boarding for around 100 Aboriginal students from remote and very remote communities throughout the Northern Territory, Broome in Western Australia and the tip of Cape York in Queensland.
Boarders range in age from 12 to 18 years.
Students board in Family Group Homes, which are set up to be ordinary homes with Family Group Home Parents, and are located throughout Darwin.

St Philip's College, Alice Springs
St Philip’s College in Alice Springs provides onsite accommodation for up to sixty boarders. The boarders come mainly from remote cattle stations and communities throughout Central Australia, from the islands off the north coast of the NT, to Coober Pedy in South Australia and the Kimberley Region in WA.
The facilities are co-educational, with girls and boys accommodated in separate boarding houses but sharing common facilities such as dining room, recreation room and recreational facilities on the College grounds.

Haileybury Rendall School, Darwin
The residential students at the Haileybury Rendall School in Darwin, are mostly Aboriginal and from remote and very remote Northern Territory communities. There are a small number of non-Aboriginal boarding students from across the Northern Territory.

Tiwi College, Pickertaramoor, Melville Island
Tiwi College, Pickertaramoor, on Melville Island, is a weekly boarding facility, where students from communities on the Tiwi Islands are accommodated in Family Home Groups. The College provides accommodation for up to 100 boarders. Each Family Home Group has House Parents, who are the ‘parents when away from parents’.

Yirara College of the Finke River Mission, Alice Springs
Yirara College of the Finke River Mission in Alice Springs is a boarding school for Aboriginal boarders twelve years and older from remote and very remote communities across the Northern Territory, South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland.
